Stentorian is a five piece band formed in August 2004. The name Stentorian means "A loud sound". They aim to be as loud and melodic as they can be to rock audiences to their feet. Originally conceived to play pop tunes for school gigs, Stentorian found that path aimless and started to write their own tunes. Their first original "Fancy Girl" was influenced by a school crush and a nostalgic dose of Nintendo games. The song eventually won the best original composition prize at the 2005 Jam X competition and got them into the finals of the Noise online music competition. Since then they have written other songs and plan to release an EP by the end of the year.

Their musical influences are diverse, ranging from classic pop rock acts like the Beatles to modern soul funk act Maroon Five to progressive rock maestros Dream Theater. Not wanting to be pegged to a particular genre, Stentorian taps into their palette of influences to deliver originals that can be described as progressive pop. They aim to play technically proficient songs to keep the hard core musicians happy without alienating the mass audience. They do this by making sure their melodies have a "Brain Itch" factor that are so catchy you can't get it out of your head.

Junhan picked up the bass in his junior college days as he felt that playing the guitar was so passe. Having had a brief encounter with the keyboards earlier, he was able to pick it up easily and has since progressed quite far with his instrument. An avid soccer fan, he often meets up with his friends for soccer sessions on weekends to unwind from a hectic week at school.

Influences: Flea, Victor Wooten, Jaco Pastorius, Dream Theater

Equipment: 5-string Lakland Skyline 55-02 Deluxe, 4-string Yamaha BBG4AII, Sansamp bass driver D.I. box.

Andrew first faked interest in the guitar while visiting a close family friend during Chinese new year eve when he was 13 years old. He did this to avoid making small talk on how fat he was as a teenager. He fell in love with the instrument at once and the rest they say, is history. People are constantly amazed at how the world fades into oblivion whenever he straps on a block of wood .

Influences: Incubus, Audioslave, Rage against the machine, Creed, Alterbridge, Perfect circle, Dream Theater, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan

Equipment: PRS Mcarty, PRS tremonti SE, Tacoma DR12 acoustic guitar, Vox British bulldog distortion pedal, Visual Sound jekyl and hyde overdrive and compressor pedal, Visual sound H20 Chorus and echo pedal, Morley Tremonti Wah, MXR micro amp pedal.

Iylia first caught on to singing by auditioning to be part of his school choir in primary school. Since then he hasn’t stopped singing. Conversations with him are often punctuated with him singing various tunes playing in his head. He has just started playing the acoustic guitar and aims to write better songs and deeper lyrics with every song.

Influences: Sting, Adam Levine

Equipment: Any musty mike he can get his grubby hands onto.

Like Andrew, Samuel picked up playing the keyboards somewhat unwillingly during his childhood but has progressed to be well versed in jazz and blues. Blessed with “the ear” and “the perfect pitch”, he is able to dissect any piece of music to bite-sized pieces for band to digest easily. When not showing off his virtuosic skills, Samuel's often obsessed with punctuating a song with different stops and off-beat timings.

Influences- Dream Theater, Jordan Rudess, Frank Sinatra

Equipment: Yamaha P70 88-keys weighted

Enry is from Indonesia where he first slammed a wooden stick on a snare drum. He likes his sticks so much that he refuses to change them until they are splintered like cheap china-made chopsticks, much to the dismay of the band. Apart from creating mind boggling rhythms on the drum kit, Enry loves to cook up a storm in his kitchen.

Influences- Mike Portnoy, Akira Jimbo

Equipment: An array of drumsticks including a Mike Portnoy edition coated with Sex Wax for firmer grip
